Condo Interior Project

April 6, 2013 in Interior Visualization

This was a project of a condo interior done for a firm in B.C.It was an interesting project in that the client was very specific about the furniture, textures and lighting. Almost all of the furniture, lights and appliances had to be custom modeled for the scene. I was lucky enough to find design specs for most of them and was able to model them quite accurately.

The image was to be for the sales brochure so they wanted a very bright well lit interior. They wanted the wall in the bathroom cut back so as to show more of the bathroom interior. As the project progressed there were several revisions. Some of the texture choices and furniture that they had picked were changed once I had provided a render and it showed that some combinations didn’t go well together.

As usual I used 3DS MAX to model and render the image. All of the post work like the lighting effects were done with Photoshop.

All in all it was a fun project and the client was very happy with the result.

Park Project

March 13, 2013 in Exterior Visualization

This was a multiple 3D exterior render project done for a Toronto developer. There was an old hydro tower and field across from the complex they were developing and wanted some renders to show how the space could be transformed into a park. Some of the features were a community garden, dog park and a Bixi bike station. I was able to use Google maps to get an accurate street view to model with. Because of all the 3D trees and grass this was a very heavy scene and my poly count was quite high. For any 3D enthusiasts out there I used Forest Pack to scatter the trees and grass.

For these set of images I gave them an older photograph feel using Photoshop. A gradient color layer and slight vignetting was what was used to accomplish that. Creating the Hydro towers was an interesting challenge but I found a method that allowed me to create it in a short amount of time. Most of the time was spent getting the trees and plants correct and making the dog park and Bixi bikes.

This was a render of  a proposed condo complex in Toronto. The client wanted a dusk shot from this angle. It was a good project and the client was happy with the result.

Victorian Reading Room

These images were a personal project. I needed a setting for a table and I got a little carried away.
The mood is mid morning with nothing but natural light. Everything in the scene was custom modeled.
